"Ricky D.M. JR." By Rashell Flescher

I am in love with you.

And I say that because,

there is absolutely

no other way to explain

the feelings that I have for you.

And you’re obviously

not the first that

I’ve ever loved, or

fallen in love with.

Compared to my past love,

I can honestly say

that I have never loved

anyone more. And I will admit,

it’s not the rush of

sparks and fireworks

that I have experienced

a couple times before.

But it is the feeling

of the purest happiness;

the act of staring through

galaxies and watching sunsets.

And these mass amounts

of feelings that I have for you,

tend to scare the hell out of me.

Because even with the

amount of love I have felt before,

the amount of pain I’ve had to endure

doesn’t even begin to compare.

Because we’re so young,

and people tend to be

so unpredictable.

Every once in a few whiles,

I breakdown and think

about how scared I am.

How extremely scared

I am of losing you.

Because anything could happen,

between now and the end.

You or I could end up moving away,

and I know how you are

with long-distance relationships.

You could end-up realizing

that you don’t love me

as much as you say.

Or you could find another girl,

more prettier,

more fun,

less crazy.

And I have just never cried

so much at the thought,

than since I have been with you.

I am in love with you.

And I say that because,

there is absolutely

no other person that

I would ever want to

keep falling in love with

everyday for the rest of my life.

You are the billions of galaxies

that I would gladly continue to

explore so that I can know

everything about you.

You are the millions of sunsets

that I would gladly continue to

wait and see every day and night.

I am in love with you,

and I couldn’t be happier for it.

Rashell Flescher is a writer from North Dakota.

"I am Rashell Flescher, and I have been writing since the first grade, which is when I realized that I wanted to become a novelist. I have like three unfinished stories, that I hope to eventually finish. I also have several poems, and prose work, and I also used to write songs, which isn't something I've done in a long while. I have always been in love with the world of writing, no matter what I'm writing, absolutely anything. Schoolwork assignments are always more fun when it involves my writing skills. A lot of my life has revolved around my love to write, and it is really the only thing I have going for me. I am in love with writing and I really don't know what else to say other than that, because truly sums it all up."

On Her Work:

"The featured piece of work is a prose poem, about my current and hopefully forever boyfriend. The title is his full name. The whole entire poem is completely true, just a view into the moment that I am currently living in, which is being really happy with my boyfriend. My love for him is what inspired me to write it, and my love for writing is what inspired me to submit it to GS&NS."
